Mother Williams was born in Sanderson, Florida on December 14, 1919. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at the tender age of 8 years old. When she relocated to Alachua COGBF she served under several pastors; Elder ET Taylor, Elder G Kemp, Elder James Williams, Elder George Dix, currently Elder Willie McKnight, and several other pastors. She worked faithfully in many positions and has always been a pillar at Foundation Chapel, Alachua COGBF where she served for more than 75 years.
She worked faithfully in many capacities in the church including, Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, WWC Officer, Building Fund Chairperson, Usher and Church Mother. No job was too small or too large. In March 1949 she was blessed with a saved husband, Elmo Williams, who later became a Deacon in the church.
During the National Conventions and Revivals, she hosted several of the church’s forefathers and their families in her home. Mother Williams was also recognized in her community. She operated a Day Care Center out of her home for many years. She is known affectionately as "Mama Edith." Mother Williams' legacy is summed up in her charitable spirit and steadfast faith in God.
